Nikki Haley Denies Affair

Nikki Haley is a South Carolina state rep who denies having an air with a conservative blogger. Apparently allegations emerged that the two had had an affair years ago, but she claims that is not the case. She claims it's a "disgraceful smear" to derail her run for governor, according to the Washington Post.

Haley was shown learding the June 8 primary in a recent poll, and say's the affair rumor is "South Carolina politics at its worst." "I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage," Haley said in a statement given to a local TV station. "This claim against me is categorically and totally false."

Will Folks, who writes the Faith in the Sound blog, came forward this morning and admitted to an affair. He claims he made the information public because Haley's enemies were threatening to go public with the info. He wrote on his blog this morning: "Several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki. That's it."

The details of the alleged affair are minimal, and Folks wrote that he will not be discussing anything further. "It is what it is, and aside from the Haley family -- Michael, Nikki, Rena and Nalin -- I feel no need to apologize or explain myself to anyone," he wrote. "People are human. We make mistakes. And as I have learned from experience, the key to life isn't the mistakes we make, it's how we choose to handle them."
