The series will be centered around dictators Josephy Stalin and Adolf Hitler, who Stone says has been a "scapegoat" throughout history.
He said (via NBCNewYork.com): "We can't judge people as only 'bad' or 'good.' [Hitler] is the product of a series of actions. It's cause and effect. People in America don't know the connection between WWI and WWII.
"Stalin has a complete other story. Not to paint him as a hero, but to tell a more factual representation. He fought the German war machine more than any person."
Stone also said that "Hitler did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30m," leading people to ask him why, then, there's been such a focus on the Holocaust.
He answered (via TheAtlantic.com): "The Jewish domination of the media. There's a major lobby in the United States. They are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington. Israel has f*cked up United States foreign policy for years."
Needless to say, Stone's comments have been labeled "insensitive" and "offensive" by mainstream media outlets. No doubt this subject will be brought up many more times during his publicity tour for the upcoming Wall Street 2.
