Mr. Robot is now Mr. Mercury.

Rami Malek, star of the hit USA series, will reportedly portray Freddie Mercury in upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

The film, which has been in development for years, will be directed by Bryan Singer. On Saturday, Singer announced Malek's involvement via Instagram.

"#bohemianrhapsody #queen #freddiemercury #brianmay #rogertaylor #johndeacon #grahamking #fox #newregency Looking forward to @ramimalek @whoismrrobot playing #Freddie photo @therealmickrock," Singer wrote.

Way back in 2013, actor Sacha Baron Cohen was set to star as Mercury. After Cohen dropped out, it hit a stand-still.

According to reports, Cohen fancied the film as a raw, deep dive into Mercury's life while surviving band members preferred a softer, gentler approach focusing on the band at large. Those surviving band members, Brian May and Roger Taylor, will be charged with the film's music.

Deadline originally broke Malek's involvement.

Malek, 35, plays disturbed hacker Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot, a role that's won him both a Critics' Choice Award and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Bohemian Rhapsody has no present release date.
