(Bauer Griffin) With Regis Philbin's impending retirement from ABC's Live! morning show, a lot of names are being thrown around as the network looks for a new host to sit next to Kelly Ripa. While not all of them are very viable, at least a few stand out as awesome potential replacements.

Earlier this week published an insider short list of candidates for the job, which included names such as Neil Patrick Harris, Mario Lopez and Ryan Seacrest.

While contractual obligations (not to mention familial obligations with a new son) will likely get in the way of Harris moving from the West Coast to host the New York show, he's subbed for Regis before and he's a natural in the talk show format.

Mario Lopez has also subbed on the show and probably has less obstacles preventing him from taking the gig. He's also got a lower profile than NPH, which could make it easier for ABC to lure him away from Extra.

Here's the full list of that EW says is in the running. Warning: it does have some silliness.
Ryan Seacrest: You can’t have a major talk show vacancy without his name coming up. He could clearly handle the job. The trick (as is the case with several names below) is working around his existing deals.
