Sacha Baron Cohen is known for pushing the envelope of what he can get away with on television and in movies. But what's perfectly acceptable for the MTV Movie Awards (remember Sacha's awkward landing on Eminem?) just isn't a good match for the venerable Oscars.

The Bruno star and the Academy parted ways this week after "creative differences" prevented them from going forward with a skit that would have lampooned Avatar director James Cameron. Cohen was working on the skit with Ben Stiller who seems to be able to get away with just about anything in Hollywood. But maybe the Academy felt it was too risky letting the British comedian poke fun at cash cow Cameron on live television.
New York magazine's Vulture blog reports that Sacha was planning to take the stage dressed as a female Na'vi from the Avatar movie while Ben would be his translator to the audience. The Sacha Na'vi would soon become irritated at Ben's apparent mis-translation and open her gown to reveal that she's pregnant with James Cameron's love child.
Oscar producer Bill Mechanic was reportedly horrified by the idea and feared that Cameron would even walk out of the ceremony in the middle of the telecast! James has a notorious temper and one insider told the Vulture, “Let’s just say that Cameron isn’t known to be, shall we say, ‘self-deprecating.’”
