Here's What Albus, Harry, and Ginny Look Like in 'Harry Potter and The Cursed Child'
The first in-character cast photos for the London production were published to Pottermore Tuesday.
The first in-character pictures of the stars of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are online, and we can't look away. The images show Harry and Ginny well into middle age while son Albus Severus Potter is wearing his requisite Hogwarts robes.
The images were published Tuesday on Pottermore.com ahead of the first preview performances of The Cursed Child, the J.K. Rowling-penned play that takes place 19 years after after Harry defeats Voldemort at the end of Deathly Hallows. Sam Clemmett plays Albus Severus Potter, Jamie Parker plays grown-up Harry, and Poppy Miller plays Ginny Potter.
Parker emphasized that it was important to find a suit for Harry to wear that would match his personality because even though he's grown up now, he's still the Harry people know and love.
"He’s wearing a suit because he’s a Ministry man, but he’s not just a bloke in a suit, that’s way too anonymous," Parker said. "And it sounds strange but we talked around a lot of different suits, because there are suits and suits, and a lot of them we put on and we went, 'Mmm it’s just not right.'
"With all the character’s costumes we want them to be instantly familiar when people see them, so that people feel like the story’s safe in our hands, and that we’re taking that responsibility seriously."
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child officially opens July 30 with preview performances beginning June 7. If you can't make it to England for the show, don't worry, the script will be published July 31, effectively giving us our eighth Potter book.
