A New 'Indiana Jones' Movie Is On Its Way!
Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are getting the band back together.
Hot on the heels of his crowd-pleasing return to Star Wars, Harrison Ford is heading back to his other universally loved franchise. Disney announced Tuesday that a new Indiana Jones adventure will hit theaters July 19, 2019, and that both Ford and director Steven Spielberg would be returning for the film.
"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," Disney chairman Alan Horn said in a press release. "It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
The announcement came with no mention of Shia LaBeouf, who played Indie's son in the franchise's fourth installment back in 2008. The idea at the time was that Shia's character could take over for the aging Dr. Jones in future films, but his relationship with Spielberg soured after he publicly criticized the movie. LaBeouf later apologized, but by then Ford already thought he was a "f---ing idiot," so we're assuming he's not attached to this movie.
