Shia LaBeouf Is Spending 24 Hours in an Elevator For the Sake of Art

Human enigma, Shia LaBeouf, is back at making art because someone has to takeover James Franco's spot as America's leading Renaissance man. Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rökkö, who are members of LaBeouf's now infamous artistic collective, are also partaking in the cold-call experiment titled #Elevate. The trio is currently livestreaming the 24-hour elevator ride in Oxford, England. However, they will take a brief break at 8 p.m. to give a talk at Oxford Union. The project began at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 19th.

According to #ELEVATE's official description, “Visitors will be able to join LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner inside the elevator during this time, and are invited to address the artists, the debating chamber, and the internet, so that their collective voices may form an extended, expansive and egalitarian Oxford Union address.”

So far, LaBeouf has talked about what his parents think of his artistic endeavors. "My dad is cool with it but my mom thinks it's batshit crazy,” he said. When asked what animal he would choose to be, LaBeouf proclaimed a hippo “because they're docile creatures that can also be vicious.” Of course! What great and insightful commentary!

So, why is LaBeouf engaging in such shenanigans every other month rather than focusing on his acting career? Who knows?! At least we get a good laugh out of his crazy antics.
