Steven Gerrard Scores First Goal in USA vs. England

Steven Gerrard won the first goal of the highly anticipated game between the USA and England during the first round of the World Cup today. The goal happened about 3:34 in the first half of the game, definitely setting the USA team back.

Gerrard said in an interview earlier that he was confident England could do extremely well in the World Cup, and so far he looks like he's right. “We are desperate to deliver. It is easy to say, now we have to go out and prove what we can do. But we are ready," he said (via Mirror.co.uk).

It's too early to tell if the USA team is already toast, but the guys aren't playing too hot during the first half. Gerrard is the captain of the English team, and is confident they're going to the finals -- time will tell.
