Best New Music Recommendations Based on Artists You Already Love: Mother Falcon, Bleachers, and More

(Facebook)This week I'm getting a little more literal with my hybridized music recommendations, as there are a bunch of excellent new mashups, covers, and side projects that make it easy to do so. This is the first day of my life that I have ever really had any sort of appreciation for Phil Collins, so it's cause for celebration.

1. Phil Collins + Nas + The Hood Internet = The Melker Project
The Melker Project is Scott Melker, a "mashup and remix artist" who lives in New York City. He's just released the EP Trill Collins, which sees Mr. Phil Collins mixed with a number of hip-hop greats. The song below, "In the Air ToNas," is available for free download right now.

2. Radiohead + The Polyphonic Spree = Mother Falcon
Austin's Mother Falcon, a rotating ensemble of 15 to 20 musicians, will release their take on Radiohead's OK Computer on March 18. Hopefully it's all as haunting as this cover of "Let Down."

3. fun. + Michael Jackson = Bleachers
Jack Antonoff, co-founder of fun. and Lena Dunham's adorable boyfriend, has just released his debut single for his new project Bleachers. "I Wanna Get Better" has that same sense of exultant joy that's present in all of fun.'s best songs, as well as a jubillant "Man in the Mirror"-type message.

4. Spice Girls + Purity Ring = MØ
MØ is Karen Marie Ørsted, a Danish singer-songwriter who has just released the sexiest Spice Girls cover you'll ever hear, ever. Her debut album No Mythologies to Follow drops this March.
