LISTEN: Mariah Carey Showcases Her Pipes on 'The Art of Letting Go'

On Monday morning, Mariah Carey finally followed through on a promise she'd made months ago with the release of "The Art of Letting Go," the titular single off her long-awaited new album. It's a sweeping, retro breakup ballad about breaking free of a bad love, and while it's a little wordy ("Your audacity is too much to be believed"), it's the sweetest response Mimi has made to all those allegations that she's lost her fire. Mariah's voice is in full diva mode here: She's not showing off, dears, she's just doing what she was born to do. Who cares if there's no chorus when you can navigate between octaves like that?

"This is such a personal record to me. I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that's holding them back or bringing them down," Carey wrote on Facebook. "Thank you for sharing this experience with me!"

Speaking of divas — have you seen the video Mariah recently posted of her daughter Monroe? The little one has a lot of sass. We're loving it.
