The First Photo From the 'Roseanne' Revival Includes One Long-Lost Familiar Face
Dan Conner is back in action!
Roseanne is back and going in a very different direction than fans will remember. The first photo from the upcoming revival hit the web on Tuesday, shedding light on how the plot will continue following the series finale in 1997. Roseanne Barr, Michael Fishman, Laurie Metcalf, and executive producers Bruce Helford and Whitney Cummings are see in the pic below, which is set in what appears to be the same family home from the original.
Most notably, John Goodman is seen at the table — an exciting confirmation for dedicated viewers and proof the series will deviate from the the story it told twenty years ago.
In 1995's Season 8, Goodman's character, Dan Conner, passed away of a heart attack. In the upcoming revival, however, it seems he'll be alive and well. It's unclear how his return will be explained, but according to president of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey, the revival will otherwise be much the same as its predecessor... with, you know, some modern day changes.
"The Conners' joys and struggles are as relevant – and hilarious – today as they were then, and there's really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne," Dungey said when the revival was announced, adding the family will battle "the economic challenges of living pay check to pay check in 2018."
The whole family returns to to ABC in 2018.
