'Castle' Gets a 'Take Two' With Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian

Do you think these two shows are basically the same?

Gone but never forgotten.

Clearly, the spirit of the beloved Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic drama is still looming large at ABC. As it turns out, the creators of Castle have developed a new series that’s eerily similar to Castle, except it’ll star Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian this time around. In fact, the procedural dramedy, which is aptly titled Take Two, has already received a straight-to-series order from ABC.

Take Two will center on Ella (Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series, who is fresh out of rehab after going through an epic bender. In an attempt to revive her career, Ella talks her way into shadowing a rough-around-the-edge private investigator named Eddie (Cibrian). This gig is meant to be research for a potential comeback role that Ella has in mind, although her relationship with Eddie gets off on the wrong foot. With 200 episodes of playing a detective under her belt, Ella is ready to hit the ground running. The only problem is that Eddie resents having her company on his cases. Of course, he’s quick to change his mind once Ella’s fame brings in new clients and high-profile cases to his doorstep.

Sounds an awful lot like Castle, doesn’t it? Eddie is essentially Beckett, while Ella is Castle. The major difference here is a simple gender swap.

All complaining aside, I will definitely give Take Two a shot since I’ll forever hold a candle for Castle. (Ugh, I’m still not over that awful series finale!)
