People Can't Stop Naming Their Babies After 'Game Of Thrones' Characters
343 newborns were named Arya this year.
A girl has a name after all.
According to a recent BBC report, 343 newborns in England and Wales have been given the name Arya, inspired by Maisie Williams's character on hit HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones. That's a 14 percent increase compared to last year's 302 babies given the name. This statistic isn't surprising considering Arya is one of the most popular characters on the show.
Coming in second place is Khaleesi, a name awarded to 76 baby girls. Daenerys was also a popular choice, although the actual statistic wasn't disclosed. Nonetheless, it appears that parents want their daughters to be as tough and bold as the Mother of Dragons.
