Bad news, Person of Interest fans: this cyber-thriller has officially been canceled.
Just a few hours after CBS announced the show's fifth season premiere date (Tuesday, May 3), the network issued a statement that its fifth would also be its last.
POI executive producers Greg Plageman and Jonathan Nolan told IGN they were excited for the story's conclusion in the upcoming months:
"We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter."
While none of the show's leading stars have commented on the cancellation, Sarah Shahi (Sameen Shaw) has committed to playing Nancy Drew in a new show also by CBS.
Looking for some consolation? Season 5 looks like a good one.
Person of Interest Season 5 premieres Tuesday, May 3 on CBS.
