The Syfy Channel would kindly like to remind us that once upon a time they rebooted Battlestar Galactica. Remember, guys? They used to be cool — and not just in a ridiculous, hey-we-put-sharks-in-a-tornado kind of way. (Though, yes, if you're into that kind of thing, Sharknado 3 is happening.)

With that in mind, Syfy has released the first trailer for its brand new space opera, The Expanse, based on James S.A. Corey's wildly popular bestseller Leviathan Wakes. And there are a lot of reasons to be cautiously excited. With a script from The Children of Men writers and a pilot directed by a Breaking Bad director, this thriller could be the sci-fi show we've been waiting for.

Here's the official logline for the show: "A hardened detective (Thomas Jane) and a rogue ship’s captain (Steven Strait) come together for what starts as the case of a missing young woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history."

People also have zero gravity sex, in case, you know, that's a selling point for you.
