Taylor Kitsch's 'John Carter' Official Trailer (Video)

The highly anticipated film adaptation of John Carter has finally delivered its first official trailer. The film is based on a series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs that debuted in 1912 and have been reinterpreted throughout the decades, appearing in various media, but this big budget Disney production starring Friday Night Lights' own Taylor Kitsch looks to be the most blockbuster-y of them all.

In the film, Kitsch plays the titular former Confederate captain who finds himself transported to Mars (referred to as Barsoom), where he finds himself in conflict with the various nations of the planet. There are CGI aliens, a sexy love interest, and menacing villains in this sci-fi battle quest.

Judging from the trailer below, John Carter looks like it's a hodgepodge of Gladiator, Star Wars, Avatar, and The Time Machine, but will it be as good as any of those? You'll have to wait until March of 2012 to find out. For now, take a look at the trailer to get psyched.
