Getting ready in the morning can either go really smoothly or turn out a mess. The latter usually results if your closet is stuffed to the brim, especially with impulse buys. That's why style experts all preach the process of "editing" your wardrobe—to invest in fewer, timeless basics that all work together. If you don't know where to start, Everywear, a new styling app, is now here to make getting dressed much easier.

Everywear was founded by Brandon Holley, former editor-in-chief at LuckyJane and ELLEgirl, who recruited a team of fellow fashion-industry vets to launch the one-on-one styling service. The genius part of the app is how it works with what you already own. As soon as you sign up, you'll be prompted to swipe left (no) or right (yes) for wardrobe staples you have, like a white button-down, trench coat or black dress. Once you have that cataloged, you can set up a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a stylist or fashion editor who will help you find whatever you're on the hunt for.

I had a styling session with Carli Blum just as I was planning my spring wardrobe. We first started by determining what I was shopping for—work or casual wear? Then, we went through options for different wardrobe pieces: tops, bottoms, then shoes. If something was over my budget, I said so and we adjusted. When I wanted to focus more on shoes, Blum made it happen. Instead of just suggesting pieces that work with my personal style, she gave outfit ideas incorporating what I have in my closet already.

As soon as you see something you like, you can add it to your try-on box, which you can fill up to $500. The pieces get sent to you to try on, you keep what you love and send back the rest after three days. I couldn't ask for a smoother or more convenient process, especially considering how difficult it can be to make time to visit stores in-person. For those of you in New York, you also have the option of having an Everywear stylist come to your home for a $150 fee per session (a session via the app is free).

I've seen and tried a lot of style apps and will admit my usage was short-lived. If you've reached app-fatigue, Everywear actually combines elements of other popular platforms—PS Dept, Stitch Fix, Keaton Row, Lookastic—and puts it all in one place. If you're going to commit to a fashion app, let it be this one.
