A documentary about the individuals who participated in the Indonesian killings of 1965–66, the most powerful death squad of the time. The movie recreates some of the killings. Using the actual perpetrators of the murders, director Josh Oppenheimer films their stories in gangster, western, and muscial styles and soon, fiction begins speaking to reality.
