Not only is there the continued success of 30 Rock, but she also voiced reporter Roxanne Ritchie in Megamind and played half of a boring married couple across from Steve Carrell in Date Night. That's why she's nominated for three People's Choice Awards, including Favorite On Screen Team with Steve.
Tina Fey (Getty Images) We had a chance to talk to Tina last spring about her transition from unknown TV writer to big screen star. The best part? She was more than willing to talk about her stripper routine from Date Night."The first take Steve picked me up and I just neglected to hold the pole," she said. "I was supposed to be going around the pole, and I remember the director going, 'Hold the pole.' But it was a sequence that I was kind of nervous going into, like oh boy what is this going to be?
"Then I kind of knew that I could count on Steve to deliver throughout it, which he did. One of my favorite things in the movie is Steve licking the pole and getting nauseous. I would like to say that we went to a bunch of strip clubs and really studied and stuff, but we didn’t."
Tina says her marriage to 30 Rock composer Jeff Richmond helped her come up with her Date Night character. So do the two of them still get out on dates?
"We definitely try," she said. "We don't have it as formally. I mean, maybe once a month my husband and I get out and it is a massive effort to get a babysitter. If we get more than ten blocks from our house, it’s a miracle and I am exhausted. So I definitely related to the idea of like [sarcastically saying], 'Oh good, it’s our date night.' That made sense to me. But Steve’s had tons of weird stuff happen."
