Original Story:

Rock legend Tom Petty was found unconscious and not breathing in his Malibu home on Sunday night after reportedly suffering from cardiac arrest. TMZ reports that the musician was rushed to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, where he was put on life support.

Petty reportedly regained a pulse after being taken to the hospital, but was taken off of life support on Monday after it was found that he did not have any brain activity. His current condition is unknown and no official statement from Petty's family or his representatives has been made.

Petty has been a rock music icon since he burst onto the scene in 1976 with his band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. His catalogue of hit songs includes "Free Fallin'," "American Girl," "I Won't Back Down," and "Wildflowers." He completed his most recent tour, which launched in April and honored the 40th anniversary of the Heartbreakers' debut, just this past Monday.
