That said, it was another tough day in the ring and there were a few upsets and surprises coming from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emeriates.

The major upset of the day was BJ Penn lost to Frankie Edgar in the light weight devision. The match was judged by all 3 officials, and it was a unanimous decision in favor of Penn, according to USA Today. Edgar (12-1) won a unanimous decision over BJ Penn (15-6-1), who hadn't lost any of his 12 lightweight matches since 2002.
In the Anderson Silva- Demian Maia match, Silva easily took the middleweight win but was heavily criticized for toying with his opponent. According to BleacherReport, Silva could have very easily ended the fight a number of ways before the fifth round, but instead let it drag on and mock his opponent.
