TV Land's 'The First Wives Club' Reboot Announces Its Leading Ladies
Alyson Hannigan, Megan Hilty, and Vanessa Lachey are all in for the TV series!
In the name of true sisterhood we finally have our three lading ladies!
TV Land is working on a pilot based on the beloved rom-com The First Wives Club and things are finally falling into the place. Based on the book by Olivia Goldsmith, the TV reboot has been gestating in production for quite some time. The show will be penned by New Girl staff writer Rebcca Addelman and executive produced by Jenny Bick who brought her expertise to Sex and the City. Sounds exciting, right?
While the 1996 film featured heavy hitters like Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn, the TV reboot is going a different route. Alyson Hannigan, Megan Hilty, and Vanessa Lachey have been tapped to play the three leads. The show will also take place in modern-day San Francisco and centers on three friends who reconnect after one of their besties from college dies in a freak accident. The ladies unite to tackle hard-knock issues like divorce, growing older, and family drama.
Alyson Hannigan as Maggie
Hannigan (Buffy, How I Met Your Mother) will portray Maggie, a university English professor who is also an aspiring poet. Currently, she is struggling to maintain the spark in her marriage, but after the sudden of her best friend, Maggie decides to leave her husband. Carpe Diem, indeed!
Megan Hilty as Kim
Hilty (Smash) will play Kim, an “aged out” Hollywood actress who has seen much brighter days in the industry. She's needy, vulnerable, and obsessed with working out so she can maintain her looks. Kim is still hoping to find that breakout role that will put her back in the spotlight, but until then she's working on some seriously cheesy commercials. Kim also has an 8-year-old son!
Vanessa Lachey as Sasha
Lachey (Truth Be Told) will portray Sasha, an ambitious chef who runs a successful restaurant and has a wonderful girlfriend she plans to marry. However, after her college BFF's unexpected death, Sasha suddenly realizes that she may not be as settled as she thought she was.
Woo hoo! We can't wait to see if the TV reboot of The First Wives Club will do the film justice. Here's to hoping that it will.
