What The Actors From Your Favorite Survival Movies Endured For Their Intense Roles

3. Suraj Sharma In 'Life of Pi'
In order for Suraj Sharma to play a man stranded alone at sea in Life of Pi, director Ang Lee asked the unknown actor to limit his interactions with people to better feel the character's sense of isolation. Sharma, who was only 18 at the time, talked to almost no one for two entire months.

"You might think I'm being slightly melodramatic but I felt like I was going insane," Sharma told The Guardian. "I had not many people to talk to about what was going on, I was so far away from everybody I knew, I was doing things I had never done before. I got scared of myself at one point."
