The jokes were uninspired and unfunny, the laugh track was grating, the characters were unlikeable, and the whole concept felt tired. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus? It's 2011 — are we really still doing shows like this?

After a much maligned ad campaign that at times seemed designed to drive viewers away instead of drawing them in, Whitney pulled in 6.7 million viewers. That number was down 11 percent from the premiere of Outsourced last year, which was canceled after just one season. The show was also a very strange fit with NBC's current line-up, which consists of Community, Parks & Recreation, and The Office, all of which are single-camera shows without laugh tracks.

So is there hope for Whitney Cummings and for Whitney? She's clearly a smart and very funny lady, so maybe Cummings can turn this ship around and make Whitney something worth watching. And if all else fails, she's still the executive producer of CBS' 2 Broke Girls, so at least she's got that going for her.
