She played alongside Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in Black Swan as the aging ballerina, Beth, who is replaced by the Portman's younger character.

Ryder has said her involvement in the raved-about film has restored her love for Hollywood. She has been living in San Francisco for quite a few years and this year appeared in Black Swan, The Dilemma and the TV movie When Love is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story which has been positively reviewed.

But she wasn't nominated for an Oscar this year for her brief appearance in the ballerina thriller. This isn't not a huge shocker. Still, it would have been neat if she were given some acknowledgement for her performance.
