Zoe Saldana Dressed Like a 'Sci Fi Geek' in High School

Star Trek star Zoe Saldana is into geek chic - or she was in high school, anyway. Saldana, who just wrapped up a quick visit to New York Fashion Week (Prabal Gurung is a big favorite), says she used to incorporate elements of her self-proclaimed "geeky" personality into the way she dressed, telling People, "In high school I was a little bit of everything. Sometimes I would want to dress like a cheerleader or like a mean girl or the Sci Fi geek that I usually was. It all depended on my mood, but I always knew that I loved fashion."

Saldana, who has become a delightful style star on the red carpet (see the evolution of her style!) says she now tries to follow her mother's style advice by keeping her clothing colorful; "I always end up dressing in black and white - the New York state of mind. But I really do try to listen to my mom's advice."
