If You Listen to the Leaked Taylor Swift '1989' Album, Are You a Bad Fan?

If You Listen to the Leaked Taylor Swift '1989' Album, Are You a Bad Fan?
Getty ImagesWhat do Boyz II Men, Taylor Swift, and T.I. have in common? Other than being wildly popular recording artists and loving expensive jewelry, all of their new albums leaked over the last month. Just this weekend Swift's1989 album hit the Internet, ahead of it's official release on Monday. And it's a bummer.

In a recent interview, Swift said she'd "have a meltdown" just talking about the possibility of her new tunes finding their way onto the web early. "I don't even want to think about it. I don't trust technology," she said on a British TV show. "I don't want to talk about leaks. It freaks me out. I will have a meltdown on the show."

Swift has yet to comment on the leak, but there's a huge legion of fans on Twitter boycotting it anyway. Swift's diehard fans are tweeting like crazy with pointed anger towards the person who managed to get their hands on the album. (Apparently the leak originated in France and, no, it was not Harry Styles attempting to take revenge.)

Take that, leaker!

These loyal fans have decided to "respect" Taylor and not listen to the new tracks, even though it's so tempting. The Swifties even calling the folks who do listen to 1989 early bad fans! That's like the biggest insult EVER to a T.Swift fan.

So now here's the question: Is it wrong to listen to the leaked album? Let's put it to a vote, shall we? And sound off with your thoughts in the comments, while you're waiting for Monday to roll around (or listening to the leak).

  • Yes, if you listen to the leak you're the worst. It's that simple.
  • It's okay as long as you also purchase the album when it comes out legally.
  • No, leaks just happen and might as well take advantage of it. Oh well!
