First State Visit of an Irish President

Ireland's First Lady Sabina Coyne and Britain's Prince Philip, Duke of Endinburgh attend a Northern Ireland-themed reception at Windsor Castle on April 10, 2014 in Windsor, United Kingdom. The event was organised as part of Irish President Michael D Higgins' four-day state visit. The visit comes three years after Queen Elizabeth II made a groundbreaking trip to the republic, which helped to heal deep-rooted unease and put British-Irish relations on a new footing.
