Ship engineer Larry Routledge stands in the cabin as he prepares the new Earthrace stealth high-tech anti-whaling powerboat brought by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for its imminent deployment for Perth and then the Southern Ocean, on November 5, 2009 in Auckland, New Zealand. The 24-metre trimaran has paint which deflects radar waves, so can approach Japanese whaling vessels almost unseen. It will join the Society's ship Steve Irwin on a three-month voyage protesting against the Japanese whaling program, leaving Perth on December 7.
