After months of negotiations between Australia and Cambodia, Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison and Cambodian Interior Minister Sar Kheng have signed an agreement today to transfer refugees from Australia to Cambodia. The deal, which entails Cambodia accepting 1,000 refugees currently held on Nauru Island in exchange for a reported USD $40 million, has been heavily criticised due to what many people say is a lack of refugee infrastructure and a poor human rights record in Cambodia.
