Death penalty sought against suspect in UNC shooting Federal prosecutors said Friday that they will seek the death penalty for a 22-year-old man accused in the shooting death last year of Eve Carson, student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall told a judge during a court hearing that he plans to seek the execution of Demario James Atwater, 22. Jurors in Orange County haven't sentenced anyone to death since North Carolina resumed executions in 1984. (AP) _ The slain student body president at the University of North Carolina likely raised her right arm to protect herself from a single shotgun blast that tore through her hand before striking her in the head, according to an autopsy report released Monday.
