SAN DIEGO (TICKER) —Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp began serving a reduced two-game suspension Thursday. Kemp, who originally was suspended four games last week, will serve the abbreviated suspension for Thursday’s game against the San Diego Padres and Friday’s contest vs. the Detroit Tigers. One of Los Angeles’ top young players, Kemp was penalized for helping to incite a benches-clearing incident nine days ago in a game against the Colorado Rockies. In the eighth inning of last nights game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies, Matt Kemp struck out. That wasn’t all that happened that inning. After dropping the ball, catcher Yorbit Torrealba had to tag Kemp out. He did just that, albeit rather forcefully. Kemp took exception to the tag and responded back with aggression via his forearm and it was on from there. Torrealba pushed back and the two locked up and went to the ground. Kemp definitely has the tools that give him "super-superstar potential" as teammate Doug Mientkiewicz says. When asked about the type of numbers Kemp ... Read Full Story

The National League MVP will be announced this week, and it will undoubtedly be handed to Albert Pujols. With this year's race all but locked up, I wanted to take a look at a player who I consider to be the front-runner for MVP in 2010.  At 25 years old, Matt Kemp has already put up impressive numbers that rank up there with some of the elite names in baseball history.  He is just one of 17 outfielders in the integration era—a list that...

Thus far, the offseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers has been mired in speculation about the divorce of Frank and Jamie McCourt. Does the team have enough expendable money to fill their roster holes?  Will Frank have to sell the team to a third party?  Is this organization dedicated to winning even with the front office distractions?  But no amount of off the field drama can sour the recognition being earned by Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp. Both...
