I finally had my bone density scan. It was way easy, except that I had to turn my knees in and HOLD for like 20 minutes, which has made my hip hurt the whole rest of the day.
Plus also, it's Friday, which is usually my lay on the couch and not die day. But instead I got to take all of the kids to the rhematologist with me, because DadGuy had to work off site, and by the time I realized my scheduling mishap, it was too late to do anything about it.
SO TO RECAP: We had a long night... Read Full Story

So over at one of my other blogs, we try to have a discussion Wednesday every Wednesday. And this LAST Wednesday, it was basically about whether or not you make your kids go to mid-week church activities . Now, I was going to post a response there, but THEN I realized that I should just write it down HERE because I have a LOT to say on the matter.
SO.
AT MY HOME: Mid-week Activity Attendance totally depends on the child AND who the leaders are at any given time AND what the activity is... Read Full Story

We got Tad’s staples out tonight. He was really worried about whether or not it was going to hurt, and even though I told him it wouldn’t, he still had to fake cry all the way leading up to the actual act of getting them out. And THEN he less-fake-cried all the way to the car, until I told him to just shut up already, which somehow magically turned the whole experience from frightful and scary to weird and tickly. I DON’T UNDERSTAND CHILDREN.
It was also multicultural night at school, and... Read Full Story

*deep breath* I AM DOING IT. Eat to Live, I mean… you know, that thing my doctors recommended to me last summer, but then I started on a crapload of new meds, so they changed their minds, and were all, “Actually, let’s make sure we can get rid of those mouth ulcers and that the interferon therapy doesn’t kill you first, and THEN we’ll talk about the no sugar/dairy/meat thing.” And now, I’m at a pretty good place in all the other areas of life (except for the hair loss. mostly it’s just... Remember how awhile back, I was all “I need to get myself on a schedule, yessir!” and then I didn’t do anything about it? I mean, I THOUGHT REALLY HARD about it and all, but as far as the actual DOING part, it was a big fat fail. It’s because I have to do things in baby steps for them to stick. I can’t just DECIDE to do something huge and involved all at once. Every time I do things like that, I get sick for approximately 2 months. Every time. In fact, I’m pretty sure that the kids in my... The best thing about having an online diary of sorts is that it makes it really easy to track life events and milestones. Thaddeus got 4 staples in his head on Sunday. I have pictures and everything, and I know that 2 little friends in particular want to see his head and make sure he’s okay. For now though, you’ll just have to take my word for it, because my camera is downstairs, and I am upstairs, and by a certain point in the day, I have had it with the whole stair thing, and I dream of... I would like to talk about my annoyance at over-achieving holiday craft moms, particularly when it comes to Valentine’s Day. You see, YOU are making super cute Valentines for “your kid.” And I have to put “your kid” in parentheses because I don’t really think that you’re making these for your kid, as much as you’re making it to put on your blog… you’d be surprised at the things people do with their kids for the sake of a blog post. (We can talk about THAT later.) But when I see you making... Read Full Story

Someone asked me a question about pain management and if I had any advice for them. I said, yes, yes, I did. 1. Don’t get sick 2. Take lots of pills 3. Have lots of naps. I don’t think it’s quite the answer they were looking for… oh well. Read Full Story

I have to put myself back on a schedule. And it’s obnoxious, and I am not looking forward to it. I mean, sure, I have a loose schedule. Wake up, get the kids off to school and all that, but *I* *PERSONALLY* need to have a firm schedule, with naps. LIKE I’M A BABY. That’s why it’s obnoxious. Lately, I have been going to bed at 10, and getting up about 7. Except that I can barely get out of bed and it’s a few more hours before I am functioning. And by functioning, I full on mean able to do... Read Full Story
