Getty Images. Experts had predicted a somber season of blacks and grays from Paris Fashion Week, branding the economic downturn an impetus towards safe, classic looks. But it seems the global financial crisis has had little to no effect on the trajectory of modern design this season, as evidenced by the fantastical collection showcased by Alexander McQueen Tuesday. McQueen has is mind in the clouds - namely, among the birds. Others wore umbrellas and hubcaps atop ... Read Full Story

British designer Alexander McQueen proved the sky is the limit when he sent models down the runway at his Spring / Summer 2010 fashion show in Paris last night in 12-inch elevated platform shoes. A tall order for anyone to walk in, it’s a miracle that nobody fell on the runway wearing the shoe boots. The python version of Alexander McQueen’s runway shoes, the armadillos , just arrived at British Vogue ’s offices. The staffers at Vogue wanted to see if you can actually walk in these mile-high shoes so they tried them on, but “miserably failed to make it further than the Vogue ... Read Full Story

Alexander McQueen Spring Ready-To-Wear 2010. Photos courtesy of Style.com Either Paris Fashion Week organizers had 'save the best for last' in mind or designer's calculated move to show their collections nearing the end of the event. In my opinion, it doesn't matter when designers showcase their collection. If their collection is memorable, it will be remembered. A day before the last full line-up of anticipated collections. Avant-garde designer Alexander McQueen embarked on a journey to where everything started, the ocean. The opening, true to McQueen's poetic retrospective shows was a kaleidoscope of organic strobes of lights. Models shared the stage with two cameras on ... Read Full Story

Remember the wild hoof shoes that the models wore in the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 show? Well, the editors at Vogue UK got a pair and were shocked at a) how tall they really were and b) how impossible they were to walk in.
