| Before the advent of the internet, keeping up on the latest happenings in the sport of women’s bodybuilding could be a difficult challenge. Still to this day, the mainstream bodybuilding magazines do not give the women in this sport the featured exposure they deserve unlike their male counterparts.
But there has been one magazine throughout the years that has kept fans and everyone involved in the sport of women’s bodybuilding informed. While featuring the competitors, competition results and giving the women the exposure they deserve, Women’s Physique World has been the showcase of women’s bodybuilding to the mainstream public for over twenty years. While Women’s Physique World was not published as often as the “other” bodybuilding magazines, usually every couple of months or quarterly, and the magazine was not as large as those others, WPW as it’s known, provided fantastic photography and insight into competitors involved in women’s bodybuilding. Steve Wennerstrom, who is considered the IFBB Women’s Bodybuilding Historian is it’s publisher. With help from other notable photographers such as Bill Dobbins, WPW was able to capture and showcase the female bodybuilder physique. Women’s Physique World has now been online for the last ten years, with their main website, www.wpw.net, showcasing their comprehensive female bodybuilding photo and video collection taken throughout the years. If you are interested in reading current and older issues of Women’s Physique World magazine, those are also available online at: www.wpwmagazineonline.com.
