ABC’s selection of George Stephanopoulos to replace Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” signals a desire by the network to toughen up the morning show during tough times. The appointment of Stephanopoulos, the network’s chief Washington and political correspondent, was announced Thursday.   Will George Stephanopoulos take over when Diane Sawyer leaves "Good Morning America" later this month? Sources say he's been offered the job. The Associated Press is reporting that George Stephanopoulos has been offered the co-anchor position being vacated by Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America," though there is no word as to whether or not he will take the position.
