Halloween is a holiday celebrated in various ways throughout different parts of the world every year on October 31. Halloween has roots in both Christian and Pagan celebrations, but is a largely secular holiday marked by costume parties, games and an abundance of candy.

How many pumpkins are in the picture?

If you said three, take another look!

As everyone knows, Halloween is fast approcahing.  Have you carved your pumpkins yet?  If you haven’t, this post may provide a few ideas.  If you have, then these pumpkins may put yours to shame.

If you are stumped, get some inspiration from a TV show or movie:

Dwight from Office Space

Nicholas Cage in “The Shining”

Napoleon Dynamite, Heck Yes!

Although these look pretty difficult to carve, there are several sites out there, which provide tips on tools and suggestions, and even printable templates!  My favorites were The Pumpkin Wizard and Geek Culture.  I already have mine printed off and ready to get going tonight!

If you prefer the animated world, video games and cartoons can do the trick too.

Brian from Family Guy

Bugs Bunny

Lightning McQueen in “Cars”

Nemo

Super Mario

Pac Man

Tweety Bird

Sponge Bob Square Pants

Pirate

Yoda

However, maybe you are just a big nerd…

I love the braces!

If so, check out these computer and math inspired carvings

Don’t these just make you hungry for some good fast food?

These guys are hungry

And these ones are just scary!

My personal favorites are:

The talking butt, think “Ace Ventura, Pet Detective”

Candy Corn Electrocution

The Yard Dragon

And finally, the embarassed pumpkin exposing his rear in the hospital gown, love it

Quite possibly the biggest jack-o-lantern (I have seen) is planted on a 5-acre corn maze.  The maze is located on Robert and Billie Mason’s farm near Pine Mountain State Resort Park, adjacent to the Kentucky Ridge State Forest in Bell County, Kentucky.

Each eye measures 75 feet across!  That is one big jack.

Whether big, small, tasty, or scary, if you think your jack-o-lantern belongs on this list, leave a comment.  We’d love to see what off beat creations you’ve made.

Happy Halloween!
