Summary: Loni Folks was a fifth-grade elementary school teacher. She was arrested in January of 2008 and charged with sexual battery after a "member of the community" made a complaint about the improper relationship between Folks and a 16-year-old male foreign exchange student staying in the home of Folks and her husband. During pre-trial hearings, Folks' lawyer claimed her confession had been coerced by the police. However, in November of 2008, Folks pleaded guilty to sexual battery, and received a suspended 12 year sentence.
