Summary: Deanna Bobo worked as a special education teacher at Raymond E. Wells Junior High School in Greenwood, AR. She was arrested in November of 2005 for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old male student in his own bed while his parents were away from the house. Police also found 19 sexually explicit emails between Bobo and the student. Bobo was found guilty by a jury in September of 2007, and received a sentence of 12 years, to be served in two consecutive six year terms. She has repeatedly appealed the case, claiming that the publicity surrounding the trial made a fair decision impossible. However, a judge in January of 2009 once again denied her appeals. Two other charges, related to incidents with a separate student occuring in 2000 and 2001, were eventually dismissed as the victim was now serving in Iraq and did not wish to travel back to the United States to testify.
