Geisy Arruda made headlines as a 20-year-old woman who was expelled from a Brazilian university after being heckled for wearing a bright pink, short dress to class. Many said she was defying morals and academic dignity in her skimpy attire.

Geisy Arruda Video, Public Outcry Lead to Expulsion for Short Dress

The Geisy Arruda video on YouTube might be in Portuguese, but it's easy to see the hundreds of students heckling the 20-year-old for wearing a short, hot pink dress to the Brazilian university. Since the October 22nd incident, Geisy has been featured on many talk shows and was expelled from the school for the scandalous outfit and media flurry that followed.

Sources say there has been a huge public outcry, with the school calling the provocative dress a violation of "ethical principles, academic dignity and morality" (via AP). There have been reports of people taking out ads in the paper today to publicly chastise her.

The school says they expelled Arruda after talking to her many times to have her change her appearance. Instead, she allegedly posed for pictures and ignored the requests to cover up. Still, she doesn't think her expulsion is fair. "I was the victim," she said. "How can I be expelled? It's absurd."

honestly, ladies should always keep their diginity and moral. though i do have sexy legs that i wanted to show to the whole world i still cover it. i want my future husband to be the only one to look at. If you want to look good and want boys to approach us. please let boys approach you in a respect ways. I know that we all hate to be humiliated but why did we do it in the first place. there is no way we should for someone to blame for our own misleading.

Us ladies, we do have value. so hold on to it.
umm I won't even comment on the previous post.. A woman should not have to hide her body.. If it makes other people feel uncomfortable. we should be teaching everyone to show respect for people no matter what they look like.

Also do you want me to start writing your articles. They speak portuguese in Brazil and not Spanish
does the term dumb bitch make you feel any better? Im sure she will prob. have 3 or 4 husbands!!!!
Hey callitlikeicit does the term; judgemental asshole make you feel any better? That seems to be what you're going for.
I thought Brazil was known for it's casual attitude towards nudity and sex.
They speak portuguese in Brazil and not Spanish
i agree with Cell99 i thought the same thing... and from what i have seen when i was up there mini skirts like that where a normal thing amongst young girls
I'm sorry, i'm brasilian and people here dont approve this behavior
I´m so sorry, but I think you should understand better what´s happend before talking things...First of all, we don´t speak spanish...In addiction, the Brazilian university never called the provocative dress as a violation of "ethical principles, academic dignity and morality"....As the university published, It was her behavior while she was wearing the dress...Finally, Cell 99, about the "I thought Brazil was known for it's casual attitude towards nudity and sex." You´re completely wrong...Here, we don´t approve this behavior...neither the agressive heckling of some students... The sex appeal, very short clothes, etc is used just in CArnival, a tradicional brasilian party, as you must Know...The bikinis, just in the beach...We don´t sell sex and nudity here...In the other hand, seeing my TV cable, I can see, in many countries, is common people showing breasts in public, kissing 3 or 4 people in the same time, wet parties, nudism, swing, and other sex stuff......We don´t make this TV programs....This is not cool and accept here....We respect family and we have moral.
i just wanna say brazilian girls are super hottttt
PUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
the first poster seems to indicate a woman's value is intrinsically tied to her sexuality, or suppression of it. get with the times missrangi, women are not objects to be judged on their sexuality, your statements are rather misogynistic.
I just watched this video where she was in mini in Pink ..Well i dont think this dress is such that will create hoax....i just cant understand whats going on here....Well u too watch this video and decide..

Well you all will have the same views like me after watching this
third_wave_fem, I'm not sure which post you were looking at, but the first post was saying that a woman's self value should NOT be tied to her sexuality or suppression of it. She stated that she wanted to be approached by men who were respectful, and it's hard for a man to respect a woman who's half naked walking around in public. If a man is talking to your chest, how much respect does he have for you?
In the univerity that I study here in Brazil too, I see everyday (when is a hot day) girls using dresses like one she used, and sometimes even shorter, and we do not judge the girls for that! I think that some Studants of Uniban UIversity (Where the girls still study, cause the university must not expulse her) are a really idiots, for what they did, a lot of people will prefer others universities than Uniban. I would not let my son study there, and do not recommend for anybody to study in that university!
What does the clothes do with respect? Why wearing short skirts is not respectable but wearing a Giorgio Armani is a wonderful thing? If she wants to call the attention of lots of boys, she has the right to wear whatever she things it will make that happen, but, what do we say about that whole hundreds of people leaving the classroom to make fun of that? That massive repression is guilty of her? So, all that people were so bothered enough about that short skirt to stop studying and start that opression? 1 woman made hundreds of people stop, so I think she is very powerful. Or else, there are hundreds of stupid students in that college. To be in the middle of the massive attack gives a person a relief of the guilt. This is what I call "Being Coward".

Not here in Brazil is not sex explicio ropas wear shorts in the carnival and we praça de ropa apropiada en ate that have laws against nudity and so on. here in Brazil

Why should a woman use her body to attract men? Only a bitch does that. Also it doesnt make sense to expel 100 students because of one bitch in the campus.I support the university board for their decision.
