Illusions Wednesday - On my lunch break I thought I saw a pigeon walking around with no head... I think I was really hungry! There is a commercial out right now that talks about car insurance and all the stupid things drivers do to increase their chance of crashing, like: changing pants while driving, putting on make-up,talking on the phone etc............. I'm like yeah right - People don't really change their pants on the road behind the wheel. Today I saw some woman with a real glass bowl and real spoon slurpin up cereal while driving. WOW idiots reminded me of the headless pigeon. ... Read Full Story

Illusions on Friday - At work and ready for the weekend - In this sea of cubicles I can hear the slow sucking noise of souls being extracted into the abyss. There is so much work on every ones plate - that the days go by quick and weeks turn into months and then to years. Before you know it Father time has his skeletal hand on your shoulder and your in the same cubicle you where in 20 years ago. Corporate culture is a joke! Make sure you own something that no one can take from you........ Now its time for a Martini, ... Read Full Story

Grown up on a diet of illusionists and magicians, that you want to emulate the careers of David Blaine and David Copperfield instead of taking the traditional engineer/doctor/lawyer route? The Freaky Body Illusions set ought to get you started on the right footing then, letting you perform seemingly “miracles” by stretching your ear to an [...]

I'd like to award a medal - a gold medal - to David Crawford and all those sensible souls who've swung behind his report's call for more emphasis on participation in sport and exercise, and less on elite achievement. They are, of course, perfectly right. Sport is something we should be doing, not merely watching.

David Shulman Detained Palestinians near an IDF post in Hebron, photographed by an Israeli soldier (Shovrim Shtika) Questions of human rights abuses in Israel and the charges of war crimes put forward by the UN’s Goldstone report have produced little more than the usual disingenuous accusations of anti-Semitism. Even Moshe Halbertal, an unusually cogent Israeli participant-observer, takes the Goldstone commission to task in The New Republic...

"For all the fun we have with them, illusions do serious work in illuminating how our brains work, and in particular how perception works. They may also help us understand how consciousness developed, and tell us about our 'neuro-archaeology'."...

This guy kinda creeps me out. The artist describes himself as a "face paint illusionist" and he’s recently been featured in a 'Ripley’s Believe It or Not!' picture book. His particular form of artistic body painting is just for fun, though his other artwork has been displayed in galleries.

Thirteen dead and 31 wounded would be a bad day for the US military in Afghanistan, and a great victory for the Taliban. When it happens in Texas, in the heart of the biggest military base in the nation, at a processing center for soldiers either returning from or deploying to combat overseas, it is not merely a “tragedy” (as too many people called it) but a glimpse of a potentially fatal flaw at the heart of what we have called, since 9/11...

Within every organization is a need for pillars – they are the go-to people who are steadfast and committed to success. These pillars are grounded in the qualities that inspire confidence and shape an in-house culture of excellence. Support pillars are not hard to spot. Their qualities are indispensable, transferable, and attainable. Pillars rise to the top. A pillar not only represents the foundation of a building or organization, but...
