"So You Think You Can Dance" judge Nigel Lythgoe has come under fire for some comments he made during a taped episode of this week's show. As a "So You Think You Can Dance" fan, I didn't want to believe the news reported earlier today that Mia Michaels is leaving the U.S. version of the show, but sadly, producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe confirmed Mia's departure: “We are thrilled to have given a talent such as Mia Michaels a platform to create Emmy Award-winning choreography. In tonight’s episode the top 16 dancers performed, 8 couples. First to perform was Kherington and Twitch. There style for tonight was hip hop, they danced to “Don’t Touch Me” by Busta Rhymes. There dance was so fantastic that all of the judges did not have anything negative that they could say about them. Nigel Lythogoe of So You Think You Can Dance is fighting back after coming under attack from GLAAD’s accusations that the judge is “homophobic.” Last night, during the first season’s episode of SYTUCD, their were two male performers doing the Samba. After getting into hot water with GLAAD over comments made when a same-sex ballroom couple was featured in season five, Fox’ s So you Think You Can Dance takes another stab at featuring a same-sex pair tonight and the results are a significant improvement. During the season five audition rounds in May, head judge and producer Nigel Lythgoe gave harsh critique to same-sex ballroom couple Misha Belfer and Mitchell Kiber that focused more on their sexual orientations than on their talent.
