This past weekend was a lot of fun, we were able to help a lot of people in different ways. Throughout this entire month we had been helping to promote the concerts our friends of Col’ Areo String Quartet were putting on at the Music School Carter Center in East Providence, Rhode Island. I contacted the Providence Journal Newspaper, Television Channel 10, Television Channel 12, and whofish.org and each one posted the event on their respective web ... Read Full Story

Carousel in Narragansett Bay We took this photo of the Crescent Park Carousel in late October of 2009. It's pretty much all that's left of a famous seaside amusement park where the good people of Providence would come to play around the turn of the century. They could take a trolley from Providence out to East Providence and amuse themselves to their hearts content all summer long. It has been beautifully restored and is looked after by a father and son named Ed. (They only have one name between them.) They let us in when we explained our mission and this photo is the ... Visit the Northrop and Johnson Yacht Charters Website The Breakers, Newport Newport, Rhode Island is a well known yachting location worldwide. Mention Newport, and any good sailor has either been to Newport or would like to visit. Newport has the largest deep water port on the eastern coast of the United States. In colonial times, Newport was a very busy trading port, with ships coming in from around the world.      Historian Patrick Conley wrote an excellent letter to the editor refuting claims made by Rhode Island College adjunct professor Julianne Jennings' statements about Roger Williams.  Ms. Jennings wants everyone to know "the truth" about Roger Williams, and is pushing for the Department of Transportation to install a plaque which would share her distorted view of history.  Here is the full text of Patrick Conley's letter:   The trashing of Roger Williams by Rhode Island College anthropology professor Julianne Jennings is as intellectually and historically outrageous as the maltreatment of Native Americans and blacks by European colonists and their descendants. Under the guise of ... Read Full Story

Marble House Peak tourist season in Newport , Rhode Island is summer. Founded on Aquidneck Island in 1639, Newport was one of the first major seaports in the colonies, was significant in whaling and the slave trade, and was one of the first popular getaway locations for wealthy American families when the rich first became richer in the 1870s. Newport is also a major naval base , frequent host of the America’s Cup regatta, location of the International Tennis Hall of Fame (the U.S. Open was first played here in 1895), home to annual jazz and folk festivals, and the summer residence of two ...
