Sean Salisbury (sportshawaii.com)"I was ashamed, and I didn't want to say anything," said Salisbury (via USA Today). "I thought it would go away and let my ego get in the way. Since then, I've beat myself up about it more than 10 baseball bats could. A stupid mistake can cost you, and this has really cost me. I should have been having this conversation a long time ago."
The 46-year-old was suspended from ESPN for a week after it happened, but no one knew what had happened back then. Then, in 2008, his ESPN contract wasn't renewed and apparently the company didn't cite the cell phone ordeal as the cause. Then, he got a job at a Dallas sports-talk-radio station, but he said that he was dropped because of contract issues.
Salisbury has apparently gone through anger management counseling and is in a better place. He's not writing a book, as originally planned, and he hopes he and his family can move on past the "sophomoric mistake."
