A memorabilia dealer who had several heart attacks after being robbed at gunpoint by O.J. Simpson is suing the former football star and five men who were with him, seeking unspecified civil damages. A lawyer for Bruce Fromong said Monday he believes he can prove Fromong suffered "great bodily injury" and emotional distress because of the September 2007 confrontation in a Las Vegas casino hotel room. Simpson's lawyer, Yale Galanter, calls the lawsuit frivolous and says he'll fight it "tooth and nail." The lawsuit filed Friday in Las Vegas names Simpson, convicted co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart and four others as defendants, including Thomas Riccio ... Read Full Story

The Nevada Supreme Court isn't going to let O.J. Simpson out of prison while he appeals his conviction in a gunpoint hotel room heist. A three-judge panel issued orders Friday concluding that Simpson and convicted co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart didn't meet the "heavy burden" required to be allowed to post bail. The justices noted that a jury found Simpson and Stewart guilty of "serious, nonprobationable, violent offenses" with firearms involved. They also cited a Clark County District Court judge's finding that the men posed flight risks. Simpson and Stewart were convicted of kidnapping and robbing two sports memorabilia dealers in September 2007 at a ... Read Full Story

A Nevada prosecutor has responded to O.J. Simpson's appeal by saying that the football legend was fairly convicted on armed robbery and kidnapping charges. Clark County District Attorney David Roger filed a brief with the Nevada Supreme Court late Friday to respond to Simpson's appeal of his conviction on 12 charges related to a confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room. The 62-year-old Simpson's lawyers want him exonerated of all charges and have cited judicial misconduct, insufficient evidence, a lack of racial diversity on the jury and errors in sentencing and jury instructions in arguing that he should be ... I never thought I would ever hear the word guilty ever associated with O.J. Simpson but a jury of his peers reached that verdict in Las Vegas. Simpson was convicted and found guilty of armed robbery and kidnapping. There is a mandatory sentence of two years but a potential sentence of up to 30 years. I have reprinted the full story from the AP News Service below. O.J. Simpson is handcuffed after a verdict of guilty on all counts Simpson guilty of armed robbery, kidnapping By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent Oct. 3, 2008 Thirteen years to the day after being acquitted of killing ... O.J. Simpson and a former golfing buddy are hoping their lawyers can convince a Nevada Supreme Court panel to release them from prison while the high court reviews their convictions in a gunpoint hotel room heist. Simpson and convicted co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart won't be in a Las Vegas courtroom Monday when their lawyers get 30 minutes to argue for bond pending appeal. The three justices from Nevada's only appellate court won't make an immediate decision. It's rare for the court to hear oral arguments on bond, and even more rare to grant release. Simpson is serving nine to 33 years for kidnapping and ... Read Full Story
