Final Olympics for Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto Ends in Fourth Place Finish

Figure Skating - Day 11

(Getty Images)more pics »Watching NBC's pre-Olympic marketing efforts, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto were the only two competing in ice dancing, period. The photogenic pair were heavily featured in promos and press kits, with the 2006 silver medal winners promoted as America's best chance at gold.

In the end, however, the two's final Olympics -- both have confirmed they will not be back in 2014 -- ended just short of the podium. Canda's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir easily skated their way to gold, and surging American duo Charlie White and Meryl Davis were good enough for silver.

It also shows the extreme demands placed these athletes. Belbin, 25, and Agosto, 28, are now aging veterans in the sport.
