It was a massive display.
The cardboard wheel on the ground was blowing off two hundred and fifty dollars worth of gunpowder and other cool stuff making big booming blossoms of color in the twilight on the beach at Saint Augustine the night of July 4th, 2007.
Bright blue stabs of light were cutting through the rockets red (and green and blue and yellow) glare. Blue stabs reflecting off the sunburned faces of the vacationing revelers as they cheered and screamed. Blue stabs from the Police SU... Read Full Story

Gay Marriage: You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave.
People who crossed the country to get to Massachusetts or New Hampshire to be Gaily Married did not stay in Massachusetts or New Hampshire: they went home. Home where Gay Marriage does not exist and where the legal machinery required for Gay Divorce does not exist, either.
The unhappily married couple has to go back to Massachusetts or New Hampshire and establish residency before they can be divorced. Does this sound ... Read Full Story

I’ll be wearing blue for St Patrick’s Day, just to be authentic.
Blue, you see, is the official color of Saint Patrick. He explained the Holy Trinity to pre-Christian Irish by using the three leaves of the shamrock. The phrase “the wearing of the green” comes from wearing a shamrock as a sign of protest to show you were Catholic during the Protestant reign of Great Britain. Nowadays if you are a Protestant in the North you wear orange on March 17th in Protest of th... Read Full Story

… Jackson kicked off his sixth comeback tour by appearing in public with a completely new nose that had been grown in place using stem cells, a massive elective surgery market was created overnight. The dislocations to society stemming from this and the riots of 2016 are still being felt to this day.

From time to time a blogger will interview another blogger and ask them about… blogging. Incestuous as this may be, it is a sop to one’s ego to be interviewed.
Being naturally lazy and having been very occupied for the past few days with personal matters, I invite you to read the only productive writing I did all week: my interview at the afternoon break.
Thanks for the attention, Chris!

“This Stupid College is too backward to do anything!”
David was always frustrated that he had chosen to go to a college in the Bible Belt - even though he was a regular member of a local Baptist church.
“The rest of the world is doing all this cool stuff and we just sit here doing nothing!”
He was right. College students in the spring of 1974 were dropping their clothes and running around naked except where we lived at Valdosta State College. David was a Speech Major ... Read Full Story

There are few jobs in America so vacuous as that of the Beauty Pageant Emcee. For many years, the post was has been held exclusively by Daytime Game Show Hosts and Local Radio-TV Personalities. It is with some trepidation that I reveal that I, too, am part of this pantheon. I have hosted beauty pageants. I know no shame.
I began my career as the sacrificial lamb for the Alpha Zee Delta “Miss Beautiful” pageant in college. It was one of those men-dress-up-in-drag things where men a... Read Full Story

If someone sends you an e-mail and asks you to write down 25 things about yourself and then pass that along to twenty-five of your friends with the requirement that they do the same: how long before everyone is “it” and wishing you’d go maim yourself?
Not long. I did the math. If everyone obeys like a trained chihuahua, the graphic below shows the exponential growth of passing the itness along to your erstwhile friends.
