According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers have signed punter Andy Lee to a contract extension. Once we get more details on the deal we’ll update this post.
Lee has been due for an extension, since he was only scheduled to make $1.1 million in 2012. He’s one of the NFL’s top punters and will likely be paid in the $4 million per-year range.

Let’s play a quick game of make believe for a moment and pretend that the 2011 San Francisco 49ers roster will be the same in 2012.
We know it won’t be but let’s just pretend for the sake of argument and discussion.
Now that we have done that, let it be known to much applause and maybe some surprise, that out of the 78 players currently listed on the 49ers roster, only 10 of these players are 30 or above.

How does one go about comprising a list of the most “athletic 49ers of all time?”
Where does it all begin?
How does some couch potato armchair, Monday morning quarterback, wannabe like myself even come close to judging the subtle differences between athletes?
I’ll fully admit that there is some rhyme and reason to this list but not much.
I tried my best to focus on players who had played multiple positions and or, two sports.
I’m sure in the 50-plus year history of the San Francisco 49ers, I...Read Full Story
After a successful 2011 year, the San Francisco 49ers are looking for upgrades in the 2012 NFL Draft. In order to improve on the accomplishments of last year, they must use the draft to improve the team in specific areas.
Fortunately, with the 30th pick in each of the seven rounds, Trent Baalke and the 49ers front office have a variety of options to do so.
Based on need, the offensive line and wide receiver are the two most pressing areas. Defensively they have no major holes, but depth at...Read Full Story
