Carrie Fisher's Beloved Service Dog Gary Just Found His Forever Home
Fans concerned for Fisher's French Bulldog can rest easy.
Of the many wonderful things Carrie Fisher left behind when she passed in December 2016, her service dog Gary is the second cutest — falling short only to her young daughter, Billie Lourd.
After Fisher's passing, many fans were concerned for her French Bulldog, who accompanied the Star Wars Princess to most functions to help her cope as she battled bipolar disorder.
While TMZ originally reported she'd be staying with Lourd and her own French Bulldog Tina, Zimbio has now learned Gary has found his forever home with Fisher's assistant Corby McCoin.
The pairing makes sense, as McCoin was almost as consistent a fixture in Gary's life as Fisher. Lourd, 24, maintains an active career as an actress on shows like Scream Queens, making it difficult to provide all the love and attention two pups would need.
Carrie Fisher passed away on Dec. 27, 2016 in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack on a United flight from London. Remarkably, her mother Debbie Reynolds passed just the day afterward of a stroke.
In the months following the deaths of her mother and grandmother, Lourd has posted a handful of pictures updating fans on her healing progress. Most recently, she shared a picture of herself lounging in a beautiful poppy field joined by a caption very reminiscent of her mom's clever, dry humor.
"I went to the poppy reserve and all I got was this bizarre pic of me in a kimono making a mildly awkward face surrounded by 4ish dying poppies," she wrote, hashtagging the words, "#findingthefunny."
All our best thoughts continue to go out to the Lourd and Fisher families.
